Temora

Elevation - 280 metres (921 feet)

From West Wyalong Temora is an easy 1 hour drive south east on the Goldfields Way (route 85), passing through Barmedman at the half way stage, with it's unique FREE mineral pool.

Nearing Temora you pass Lake Centenary, a recreational area famed for its V8 jet boat championships. Continuing on Goldfields Way, you soon see signs on your right to the internationally acclaimed Temora Aviation Museum open throughout the year. There are special Aircraft Showcase days and Air Shows (they are listed on our To See and Do pages).

The Temora Rural Museum is one of best with lots of extra special days (often to coincide with Aviation Museun weekends), when almost everything in the museum is running or manned with lots of expert knowledge on hand.

There is a real variety and range of shopping available in this lovely country town.

Lots of Temora's beautiful old buildings remain, including the Railway station and it's original sign board (shown above). Much of the wealth that built these grand residences and business establishments came from the discovery of gold in the 1880's with a thriving agricultural backbone maintaining prosperity over the next century
